Here are 2 common mistakes beginners make when producing EDM.

Forgetting that less is more

Beginners have the urge to grab every extra plug-in and piece of tech they can get their hands on. It’s tempting because all companies that make them market their tools as the be-all, end-all product that will make your tracks beaming with life. Get them all you want but don’t try to throw them all in a single track. It gets confusing and irritating.

Louder doesn’t always equal better

Professional artists produce music for days and months on end meticulously tweaking every knob, every parameter down to the second, just to be blocked out by loud thumping mix. That’s not only a newbie move by a mixer, it’s also disrespectful for the artist that created the track. It’s not that loud thumps are bad. Practice using these effects at the right time: when the beat drops.
